This was a fine episode , I enjoyed watching it … I think they could of done something better then this but, after last week’s really heavy episode we need some rest
.
I really liked this episode! So Bram knew about the statue before Miles got on the freighter? and how did Daniel get to Ann Arbor? Love “spiky Miles!” And Hurley is right about the ewoks.
I totally loved this episode! I understand Miles and his motivations so much better. Dr. Chang obviously loved his baby and must have sent Miles and his mother away in order to protect them. The only tiny part that bothered me about this episode was that Hurley thinks that if Luke would have chatted with Darth Vader, everything would have come up roses. No negotiating with terrorists! But that is just a small quibble. Great episode!
I loved this episode. It seemed like we were being given a bit of a bait and switch, what with Darlton stating in their most recent podcast that the episode would be lighthearted and full of levity or “brelevity”. I certainly got that from the episode, but the humor was darker and more relevant to the episode than I expected. I wonder if I loved it so much simply because it defied my expectations. I was a bit let down by Dead is Dead because of the expectations game (though I loved it too), and maybe this episode is having an opposite effect on me, but for the same reasons.
I would say the title of the episode was pretty relevant, but also kind of cutesy and distracting. It kind of reminded me of how ‘Walkabout’ was almost called ‘Lord of the Files’ (I think). They ultimately made a better decision that time. I wonder what the alternate titles in the writers’ room were.
Faraday is back – Woot!
Even though this was a Miles episode, it may have actually been my favorite Hurley episode.
Is there confirmation on the year in which Miles was visiting his dying mother? I think I partied with him in high school.
Bram – Who’s this guy, and why does he know so much?
Two weeks until the next episode. I think I might rewatch the season during this time.
This episode was kind of slow for my taste. I did enjoy it dont get me wrong but I kept waiting for something to happen and it never seemed to pan out. Guess I am spoiled after last week. Not bad all in all. Now we have a new faction with the Bram connection so thats interesting. And it was nice to see a miles episode but they didnt really tell us anything we didnt already know or have sort of guessed! Thats about all I got for now. Talk with ya soon Donald. Stay Safe!
T.
Brilliant episode. Spine chilling and jaw dropping all rolled into one. Watching Hurley as the numbers were being stamped onto the hatch door, is going to be one of my favourite moments. And Faraday returning, he looked very confident not at all twitchy and whispering. Off to watch it again!
I loved this episode and I casted my votes
Glad everyone loved it, for the most part. It was a very entertaining episode, but I wouldn’t have chosen it to go out on a week break.
I really enjoyed Naomi’s lace-front afghan wig. tasty.
I liked the episode we’re all on such a roller coaster of emotion watching this show play out I don’t think it’s possible to give a really fair evaluation of ep to ep.
What happened to watching the show straight thru no breaks?? That’s what we were promised. Is there any chance Lost might get canceled before its run is complete
I watched the episode again yesterday, and I’ve been wondering about Naomi’s statement to Miles that “there are a number of deceased individuals residing on the island”. Not “buried on the island”. Does that strike anyone else as a strange way to put it? She told Miles that these people could help them find Ben, but do you think there’s something more to it?
@ Hooray4 Hawking:
Good point regarding Naomi’s wording of Miles’ job description.
I have a theory that that could tie into – The impending war is actually going to be a war between the 77ers and the 07ers. I have a feeling that Widmore knew exactly where much of his freighter team would end up – in DHARMAville circa 1977. Maybe Miles hasn’t even begun his work yet. The deceased individuals Naomi is referring to ARE residing on the island in ’77.
Miles could have made the choice to not be on the freighter and go with Bram instead. Had he gone with Bram he would have been on the other team, and he also would have ended up, presumably, on Hydra island in ’07.
So, we have Bram and Ilana’s team in ’07, and Widmore’s team in ’77. Widmore informed Locke that if he’s not on the island when the war comes, the wrong side will win. Locke is in ’07. I believe Locke’s responsibility (if my theory is correct) is to throw a monkey wrench into Ilana and Bram’s plans in 2007.
This theory is not fully formed, but I thought I’d get it out there. I think there might be something to it.
Thanks Hooray4 Hawking for getting my brain cooking with this one, and thanks to you, Donald, for the space to write it down and everything else.
Namaste!
Going over some bands that played SXSW, I came across the Donkeys. Looks like they are the real Geronimo Jackson. Just thought you guys might be interested.

i have to agree with the podcast, the Star Wars theme is played out. I understand that theyre just trying to take from every single “universal” example of mythology (monotheistic AND polytheistic) that runs with similar themes. it rings of what renowned mythologist Joseph Campbell talked about in his books and interviews where he tried to find an “evolution” of similarities and links from a wide range of cross-cultural examples in pre-history up until more modern entertainment. that being said, it would be nice to see the writers take a radical leap to develop their own identity and niche without heavily depending on mirroring others.
solid episode overall. and yeah, The Ewoks suck aesthetically but what they did metaphorically rocked. taking out the empire with “stone age” technology blew me away in the theater when i was little tyke.
Donald character rankings:
1. Jack repeatedly hammering Locke about being a fat, lonely old man
2. Pierre Chang being ornery
3. Caesar being friendly as usual
re: your Podcast this week – Coupla things…
You do a VERY convincing Harold Perineau!
Hot Award – I do love me some Elizabeth Mitchell and while she will get my vote just about any other week – throw a Marsha Thomason scene into the mix and Juliet is gonna be taking a short hiatus…
The body in the back of the Dharma van – it might not have been decomposition that Hurley was mistaking for a fart. A dead body lacks muscle control and will sometimes release it’s, errrr… contents. Not pleasant, but there ya go…
It looks like the Swan is actually nearly done. Looking at these caps (http://gallery.lost-media.com/displayimage-1484-270.html and http://gallery.lost-media.com/displayimage-1484-274.html) I’m pretty sure we are looking at them covering over the top and getting ready to affix the hatch dome and lid door. That square opening is, I believe, the ‘chimney’ that Jack and Locke were peering down at the end of Season 1 (http://gallery.lost-media.com/displayimage-486-1122.html).
Caller Alex’s point about the Processing Center sign – that still bugs me too. That is clearly a Dharma remnant and the hostiles/others purge cleaned out the outward signs – or at least stuck them in a drawer. I’m not saying that this means a classical alternate timeline, but it just doesn’t belong there. Something smells fishy in 2007 New Otherton. I don’t have an answer, just questions…
Mr. Donald,
I listened in on your podcast all the way to the end – where I discovered a little extra scene. What in the world is happening? Has that beauty Charlotte left you to marry another?!?!? Was this a flashforward to your happy day?
Don’t you dare skip that bachelor party!
Jed
Most gracious Loser, I don’t think the Swan is as far along as you think. Just a few episodes ago Radzinsky said they havent built it yet. Looks like this is just the foundation and they are about to lay the ground work and frame.
Jed, this is a flash forward confirmed by the writers (me). When it takes place is still a mystery could be 4 days or 4 years.
Death Metal, thanks for the character rankings! The Ewok thing is not exciting for me, I wasn’t born yet anyway so i didn’t get the whole theater experience. I just see them as stupid hamsters that somehow overpowered an army with rocks.
Hi Donald, first of all: great podcast! I started listening to it almost from the very beginning, during the Hiatus, just like Anna’s podcast. Your show is the only one that makes me laugh out loud
I just wanted to give a little suggestion: maibe it’s an idea to make 2 hoth awards, one for the males and one for the females. I have the idea that a lot more men are voting in the pole (if you compare the combined percentage of votes for Naomi and Juliet to the combined percentage of votes for Jack an Miles) so that’s not really fair right now, and will result in a woman contestant allways winning, I think. So that’s why I think it’s better to split the poll’s into a female and a male hot(h) ranking.

Hey everyone,
Just heard that Lost was Officially picked up for next season by ABC, so any ideas of them getting canceled can be squashed!
Okay, I need my Donald fix! Just a lil’ something to help me make it to next Wednesday!
Hmmm… maybe a spoof of those crappy Lost clip shows?
i got a question (which may be rhetorical). while listening to the recent Lost Mystery Podcast where they covered “Something Nice Back Home” they played a couple clips. one where Jack and Kate are going over where Kate was (visiting Cassidy – and Jack telling Kate that Hurley is insane.) and one where Hurley & Jack are at Santa Rosa. Hurley displays some super creepy thoughts to Jack… yadda yadda… so the question is… now that he’s back on the island – where did this insanity disappear to? ok, the Island took it away – the magic bullet… even if thats the case, why doesnt Jack and Kate still think Hurley is insane? it’s as if they played that whole insanity thing up and then it just magically disappeared. business as usual. Hurley the chef appears.
That Jack visit with Hurley, according to Lostpedia, is in September 2007. Locke visits Hurley in December where he goes crazy that Abaddon is there. Jack gets the call from Hurley that he’s in county jail in January – four days after Locke’s death. 2 days later Hurley is on the plane.
maybe im nitpicking but it seems like it should still be a prominent part of the way Jack and Kate see Hurley.
I love the Lost Mystery Podcast! As to your question, I don’t think it’s a question of Hurley’s insanity going away. I think it’s a matter of Jack, Kate, and Hurley himself coming to grips with the fact that he really ISN’T insane in the first place. He really can talk to the ghosts of his friends. Kate saw Claire, and Jack saw his father, and was told by Locke that his father is now on the island. They all took a big leap of faith on 316, and actually traveled back in time to 1977, so I think at this point they’re ready to believe that almost anything is possible.
