WOW! what an episode. I don’t really know what to say. Perfect episode in my book zero complaints. Feel free to leave your thoughts as I try to see striaght for the next few hours.

I’m glad you added 6/5 because 5/5 wouldn’t have been a good enough rating for that one!
GREAT EPISODE!!!!!!! Locke & Ben!!! Can it get better???? Donald… I hope you can answer
What lies in the shadow of the statue???? Please tell me….
What lies in the shadow of the statue?…8 toes!
Loved this episode & love the podcast!
Donald, that dance was even better than the episode, keep up the podcasts, I look forward to them every week.
Donald! Control yourself. JK ROFL :]
Awesome! And if I could dance like that I would probably get a girl to agree to a 2nd date(of course it might help not to meet the Mother and say, “Aw damn, she’s gonna end up looking like you isn’t she?” Later…
YES! I agree! OMG amazing episode. Unbelievable! WHAT LIES IN THE SHADOW OF THE STATUE? OMG I can’t wait to watch it again!
Donald – that was creepy… and beautiful. I was at once appalled by your vid – yet also entranced by it. Well played.
Ep was pretty good (did I just hear a collective WTF?!?!) – it kind of seemed like a laundry list of scenes that explain Ben being played out because it was about time to explain them – not really a cohesive story.
I wish they would have hinted at the Alex shame more in earlier episodes. It felt “used” just for this moment for Ben.
Ilana is eeeeeevil? Cesar is tooooast? Smokey communicates through a toooilet? (Donald – you nailed that before I could!)
Crazy Awesome
Jed
I’ll have to watch this episode again, and then about 12 more times before next Wednesday, so that I can process the awesomeness. The only thing I didn’t like about this episode is not being able to watch it live.
Someone said this episode jumped the shark? Seriously, what do you people want?
I gave it a 4/5. I believe the phrase Ellana was saying was a code phrase similar to the phrase “what did one snowman say to the other snow man” from season 2. I was disappointed we didn’t get to see the temple, saved for later I suppose. Do you think there are more than one Smokie toilets? Did the water have any significance or just water from a leak from above? Does the water stop Smokie from coming out of that hole?
Just about perfect. I’d say definitely the best episode of the season… not sure if I can go best of the entire series though.
I love how throughout this episode Ben basically said opposite things to everybody he met: He tells Locke he knew he would resurrect, he tells Sun he had no idea. He tells Locke he wants to help him, but he sets the 316 survivors against him. Nice to see that The Island finally seems to have Ben by the balls, called him on already planning to murder Locke again, and ordered him to follow Locke’s every order. This is going to be interesting!
You got moves, Donald! My wife was impressed.
Donald……
Just curious if you heard what I heard…. did you hear a cackle come out of grate when the smoke went back? I thought I did… which was odd… just checking to see if I was cuckoo.
Donald you are the king of the dancefloor. You made my day with that dance. You are as good of a dancer as you are a podcaster. Can’t wait for your podcast for the episode and keep up the great work you are the man.
Dead is dead but Donald is ALIVE and Kicking! Wow!
I need to watch the episode again, for some reason it didn’t give me the Happys the way it did for a lot of other folks. I kept checking the clock to see how much longer it would drag on, which I’ve never done before while watching Lost. I think it was the use of Michael Emerson for all those different ages of Ben that didn’t work for me. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think anyone else could portray the Ben-ness of Ben, but it took away from the story for me.
I do think we’re getting the setup for a big twist in the season finale. Ilana asks “What’s in the shadow of the statue?” Didn’t see that coming!
Ilana and crew on the Hydra island seem a lot like Rousseau’s crew after they enountered smokey at the temple….
Maybe that is why it took smokezilla so long to find Ben after he summoned it.
Crazy. I didn’t know what to do after that episode, it blew my mind. I decided to start breakdancing.
Yeah, and I did that before I saw your video too!
You’re happy dance video is too funny, Donald. I agree, it was one of the best episodes ever. The only two minor flaws were the wigs and kind of cheesy CGI Smokey. But that’s nothing compared to the awesomeness of this episode. In the temple, did you catch the hieroglyphs on one of the pillars that appeared to be describing the Exodus? Clever timing considering the religious celebrations this week. If only they would have slipped in some bunnies along the way too for Easter.
Regardless, they gave up plenty of “Easter eggs” in the Temple. Can’t wait to see some translations of those. Keep up the great work – really looking forward to your podcast on ‘Dead is Dead’!
I just watched it for the 2nd time! I loved Dead is Dead. It was one of those “no don’t end now” episodes!
finally they hit a home run like Prince Fielder. i gave it a 6 out of 5. sorry to say but the strong characters give you strong episodes and strong mythology. the Oldham impersonation is excellent. it kind of reminds me of the warden on Cool Hand Luke. best dance video ever.
You are amazing Donald. Have a horrible cold at the moment and you have cheered me up so much with your dancing moves. I can’t stop chuckling.
I watched the episode again on a bigger, brighter screen with sharper resolution, and I think I understand better why I wasn’t as thrilled with it as so many others were. For me, the Ben-centric focus made his character tedious. Lie, lie, lie, save a mother and baby, lie some more, repeat. Is Ben really sorry? Will he really follow John? I’m getting very close to feeling that Ben is so much of a liar that I don’t care about anything he says or does anymore. For me, that reaction overshadowed the glimpses of island mythology that we got, and the difference in Locke’s behavior now. I can see why so many people loved the episode because of those elements. I’m looking forward to seeing how the story develops.
The look on Ben’s face after he was done with the smokey, was amazing, Michael Emerson is an amazing actor !
Lol Thats how i was feeling m8
Great clip
keep em comming
Peace
