a) the Ryan mini-ep was awesome. all the spoiler/filming updates in the Smokey judgement was hilarious.
b) i hated the finale. not because of the Answers either. i was over that a long, long time ago. afterlife is just something i cant get into. i wasnt tied to these characters emotionally. i think the best podcast out there to cover a great analysis of “THE BAD” was the TV Critic’s. he and the people who commented summed it up great. fun show the first 3- seasons. very dark and mysterious. the Pilot was amazing. then it kind of drifted off. the oceanic 6 story was a bomb. the DHARMA people were idiots and the church afterlife just has no personal relevance to me. i wanted weight to be in these characters lives in the “material world”. not some weird meta-nonsense just to pull off a trick. whats the difference between an alternate universe, limbo, etc, etc when theyre all world’s impossible to experience? i think with how bad the island climax bombed, the afterlife tried to overshadow it with a Sexy Trick. overall id say the show was a B. great production, bad dialog. great music. so-so writing late. poor ending.

c) the new stuff from the DVD is kind of just filling gaps and fun. nothing too huge. it comes off kind of cheesy.
Good podcast – but to your one point about Darlton saying everything we’ve seen to that point being based in scientific fact. There can be a couple of interpretations to that.
1) We did see the result of the smoke monster moving through the jungle in the pilot – the smoke monster was based in any kind of scientific fact whatsoever… so fans have a scape goat right there. BUT I think Darlton are WAY smarter than that (which I have given them credit for very carefully wording things) …which brings us to interpretation two…
2) We had NEVER seen the smoke monster as of the time that Darton made that – we ‘heard’ it. We saw the result of it (including the shadow) – but we had not SEEN it – thus the statement is in it’s most literal degree truthful.
Bottom line – if I were ever to run for office of any kind – I will pay whatever it takes to hire Darlton to write my speeches and provide my spin control – for they went through six seasons making their statements as ambigous as they’re show – which is absolutely pure genius!
If I recall correctly he made more statements about everything being ensconced in fact and things not being impossible. In any event they “presented” the monster.
I found this quote from Damon “There can be things that are happening that are quote, phenomenal, but there’s always a scientific answer to it.”
Any way you slice it season 6 was a bait and switch as well as a copout. And no Donald I’m not ignoring the finale. The opening montage was beautiful. Most of the awakenings were emotional. As an episode the finale was entertaining. Thinking about the finale for longer than 2 minutes quickly reveals the complete sham of season 6. The aftermarket cobbling together of bogus answers and the complete abandonment of finishing the story that had been told for 5 previous seasons.
listening to the new LOST revisited now with all you guys. i thought of this a while but just thought of it again:
why the HELL was WALT even in Santa Rosa? he goes home to NYC… he travels across the entire country to visit Hurley for 19 seconds… then he ends up in a mental hospital in California? whatever, im so glad this show is done. theres so much that makes no sense or youre suppose to Fan-Fic stuff together. its hard thinking about where this show could have went early on and then thinking where it went to. but i should have known better when i crammed season 1 into like 24 hours about 5 years ago and said to myself, “i just watched 24 hours of TV to see a kid get f-ing kidnapped and some dudes blow up a hatch door.”
