One of the best of the season! Best scene for me is when Jack finally sees Locke, AWESOME! I can’t believe that Illana died. Libby, Michael, & Dr. Chang are back. We got answers to the whispers! I can accept that answer. I saw MIB throwing Desmond down the well when they got there and for anybody that doesn’t think MIB is bad, he just tried to kill Desmond.

I was expecting to be disappointed by this episode, but I loved it! I love how quickly things are moving now. Desmond was great, and the Jack/MIB meeting was completely unexpected. Stay strong, Desmond. The only disappointment was that I saw Ilana getting blown instead of me getting blown by Ilana.

  3. The Deleuzian says:

i thought this was pretty poorly written. just so many rushed moments and motives that a lot of it was Laugh-out-Loud worthy.

    - Ilana blowing up. it hilarious but made her character completely inconsequential and corny.
    - Libby being “off limits” but later shes revealed to be a volunteer patient.
    - the Whispers explanation was so weak. theres no way they were always related to ghosts. seemed like a writing room pin the tail on the donkey move.

i dont know, the show just seems to be so silly now instead of dark and mysterious. its like a network drama splashed with Fairy Tale fantasy and sci-fi. its starting to seem like the world the writers envisioned and hinted us towards was a bit more than they could chew off.

Dang Ilana goes BOOM….that was unexpected!

Des running over a man in wheel-chair was kinda cold! :-)

So I guess he “remembered” Flocke throwing his butt down that well.

Everyone ends up at Jack’s hospital!!!!!

The explanation for the WHISPERS was really cheesy!

Donald, what is up with Flocke getting pissed because Des wasn’t SCARED of him?

  5. Maac says:

I might be imagining things but did something weird happen with Jack’s eyes when he saw Flocke? If you watch “Trueblood” you know what I’m talking about.

Hey Donald, I was wondering if you think the Others are somehow related to the Whispers. I know Michael explained it’s all the people that “can’t move on” but there’s 2 reasons I believe this: 1. when Ben steals Alex he says if Rousseau hears whispers to run the other way and 2. in the season 6 premiere when they go to the Temple and get attacked by the Others you hear the whispers. What if the Others are all dead in some way? Hope I made some sense there. Love the Podcast, keep up the good work!

First of all , very good episode. The whisperers explanation – poor, we were told in the past the whispers were ominous , you better run if you here the whispers Ben told us. The whisper explanation is in the same vane as the black rock riding a massive wave to break the statue and at the same time not much damage to the island? Hope the answers get better. Liked the bulk of the show though.

Fantastic episode. A theory for the alt time line. It really seems that in order for one of the alt timeline charachters to see through to the island timeline they must recreate a significant event in the original timeline. Charlie saw through when he almost suffocated on the plane and Jack saved him, just like on the island when he was hanged by Ethan and Jack brought him back. Desmond saw through when he watched Charlie almost drown, just like in the looking glass. Hurley saw through when he kissed Libby, just like he did on the beach. There could be two reasons Desmond ran over Locke, either to recreate him falling out of the window or to kill him since he is dead on the island. So it seems we’ll see Desmond go around creating events to facilitate the other charachters see-through moments.

Hi Donald, I wonder if the Santa Rosa manager was trying to keep Hurley away from Libby because he knew something. Before we see Hurley talking to him in his office we get a shot of a picture of an island on the wall in his office. So, maybe the manager does know something and makes out that Libby is crazy to keep her quiet, but he allowed Hurley to see Libby because he was easily corrupted and bought off.
It was kind of sweet to finally get to see Libby and Hurley have their first date and I suppose the reason Hurley didn’t remember her initially was because they had never got that close before unlike Charlie and Desmond’s ‘connection/recollection.’
I wonder if the candidate story was made up by Jacob and they are only there to confuse the MIB in thinking that they are in fact necessary pawns and while the MIB is trying to gather them up to leave the island the ‘new’ Jacob is growing-hence the boy in the bush a tad older than last time and pretty pleased with how things are turning out, this might also explain why Jacob wasn’t that bothered about dying.
I’m kind of confused why Desmond’s become all cool, calm and collected since his return to the island, he had always been reluctant to return and only did because he was kidnapped, is it that now he realises that love conquers all? I hope it’s not that cheesy!
Incidentally, in ‘Happily Ever After?’ when Desmond was talking to Whitmore in his office in the flash sideways, did you notice there was a picture on the wall of some balancing scales with an even amount of white and black rocks on either side?
Thanks for your amazing podcasts! Always look forward to them!

Great Episode! I’m going to miss Ilana though. I was really happy to see characters I haven’t seen in awhile, but one thing still peeves me. Kate is still alive! I honestly think they’re keeping her alive simply to spite us!

  11. RyanWayne says:

No one has mentioned that Hurley found some weird bag of stuff next to that book on the beach camp…wonder what’s in it?! My theory is black and white stones for the backgammon game.

  12. Stubble says:

    This episode sucked.

    1. Ilana, a cool, resourceful character that had been training all her life for this has proven to be completely meaningless, going up Arzt-style.

    2. Hurley, who was squeamish around dynamite and isn’t exactly “agile”, managed to reach the Black Rock first, rig it, and blow it up. Right…

    3. Why exactly does Hurley all of the sudden believe Michael? Why does Richard simply accept that all the remaining candidates are going to Locke?

    4. Lamest explanation ever: whispers are dead people who can’t move on. Is this Ghost Whisperer or what?

Donald, this group was a great fit. I love the three of you guys. Your conversation flowed nicely and each of you had intelligent, rational, and thought provoking things to say. Please have Katy and Len on again! By the way, your comment box wouldn’t let me post the above saying it was spammy. Does it dislike/distrust compliments?

Hey Donald, I just listened to your podcast with Katy and Len and thought it was great. Your lengthy discussion about how and when the alt timeline started got me thinking. Do you think it’s possible that the detonation of jughead created a whole new timeline that is literally parallel to the original one. In other words – we are not seeing a single timeline that is suddenly split in two – but a whole new “string” (as Faraday put it in Season 5) is created that lies next to our original timeline. Two separate parallel lines running next to one another. If this is the case, then nothing from past “a” matches past “b”. They are totally different timelines from beginning to end. This would allow us to understand how Ben and his dad got off the island, how Pierre Chang can exist in current time with two functioning arms and no memory of Hugo, and many other issues confounded by when and how a split happens. What do you think? Coco
