This episode was great, because I think Kate finally got the message to stop bothering Sawyer. Sawyer was deeply in love with Juliet, and Kate has been nothing but a 3rd wheel. She didn’t even given Sawyer room to grieve, as Juliet died in his arms at the hatch (calling down to see if Sawyer was okay). Perhaps with the scene at the submarine dock, Kate takes the hint. I’ve never been against the shipper stuff, I’ve only been against how thoughtless Kate has been.

Cokelogic has the right idea. To add on here a few questions: Why can’t the Losties ever listen even when it’s in their best interest?, When told that they’re being protected from Smokey why does Kate still continue?! I mean everyone remembers how scared she was in the Pilot. I would imagine that she would vividly remember how scary Smokey is, and do what she needs to do so she can stay away from him. Then how in the world does she think she can find Claire on her own?! Wouldn’t she think to ask the Temple Others about her? They’ve got their names, locations, knowledge of the planes, and other information about the island.

Then there’s Jack! He doesn’t want to give Sayid the pill, but why?! He was dead either way! And if he suspected it was bad for Sayid what would make him take it?! Jack’s a doctor even if it wasn’t poison he would know full well that taking medicine not meant for you is bad. So this episode my main anger is directed to Kate(as always) and Jack. Thanks for reading and Man I’m glad the hiatus is over!

The flash sideways action in this episode was uninteresting and irritating. Watching Kate run and punk people is very tired and old. The only interesting reveal in the flash sideways was seeing Ethan Godspeed as doctor in Los Angeles. Getting back to Kate, she’s a loose cannon and I can not figure out what her purpose is on the show. Yes she can track people and she has great hair, but honestly what is her role in the end game?

Ethan is the Doctor who may deliver Claire’s baby . . . . Whoa!

I’m guessing that he and Amy must have been sent off the island during the evacuation ordered by Dr. Chang.

And Claire has gone Rousseau during the past 3 years. I wonder if she’s been hanging out with Christian or has been completely alone. And I have to assume she’s been flashing as well. I wonder what she has seen during those times and if we’ll see some of it in future episodes.

I am still very hesitant to get too excited about what these characters are doing in 2004, since it seems apparent that at some time the timelines will merge and none of it will have mattered. But with that said, why would the creators decide give us these very interesting stories, that may not matter with just a few hours left in the series.

    Otherwise, another great episode.

Looking forward to the next podcast.

    Donald,

I jumped on board with your podcasts about half way through season 5 and have heard every one since. I really enjoy the initial reaction podcasts, it’s a good way to sift through some of the major points of the most recent episode.

I am still undecided on the intentions of M.I.B. Is he a good guy or bad guy? After all, he did give Bram and his boys a chance to leave and turned into Smokey only after being shot at. Plus, I’m not sold on the Others being good either. I have to think that either Jacob, Dogen, Alpert or all 3 were behind the wipeout of the Dharma Initiative aka The Purge. I have a hard time calling them the good guys after that event.

Just a side note – in past Lost episodes wasn’t the “whoosh” sound effect in between an island scene and then the off-island scene? I need to go back and re watch these first 2 season 6 episoded…but isn’t it reversed now? We see “timeline X…whoosh…island scene”? Not sure if it means anything, just a thought.

Look forward to the next podcast.

    Hi

Good podcast- long time listener Ha……. ;-)

After a re-watch of this episode I seemed to like it a little more. I am also not a Kate hater, so having her centric did not bother me.

Listening to the podcast made me think of so much, but my conclusion is pretty much regarding the Alt timeline, IT HAS TO BE SO IMPORTANT to be thrown in now at season 6, we may not all like this but, I am convinced it is necessary for us to piece everything together. Hopefully, this will be resolved before it becomes tedious and not just fillers till the end game.

Damon & Carlton have always said, they were not making it up right? So….fingers crossed, we get a fantastic story, to end the greatest show ever.Tear*

Is that a conclusion ? Who knows ;) So to sum up, I do not mind the Alt timeline at all.

Apols to all those, who do not call it Alt timeline.

Hi Donald: Regarding Sideway Kate, my prediction that her downfall will be due to using Claire’s credit card. Some sort of anomaly with the card and Kate’s use of it will tip the authorities to her whereabouts and Ms. Austen/Hart will be apprehended.

  8. buzmeg says:

Addendum to the above comment. I just realized that Claire’s credit card was probably issued by a Bank/Credit Card company in Australia. That will likely be the anomaly that causes Kate’s demise.
